Our consulting & coaching services help you reach your goals, get unstuck, and break through to continue moving forward. How we help is different than many companies that offer consulting & coaching services. We engage with your people to help them solve these issues and drive the changes you need. Our goal is to help just enough to allow them to own the process. This means we don’t do long term embedded consulting, coaching, or staff augmentation where we are present every day. We don’t believe it makes sense from a time, economic, business, or learning perspective.

Consulting and coaching are overloaded terms. They mean different things to different people. Here’s how we think about them.

Our Consulting Services

We provide consulting & coaching services for individuals, groups, and teams throughout your organization. We work with executives, leadership teams, delivery teams, and specialized groups (e.g., product managers). These are the categories we use to describe the work we do.

Enterprise Agile Consulting & Coaching

We offer enterprise agile consulting & coaching to help your people realize your business goals. Nearly every challenge we have seen in agile involves working with people at all levels of the organization. As such, we view all our consulting & coaching around agile as enterprise focused.

We work with you over time in focused bursts rather than embedding with you full-time for extended periods. We help you with your top issues and challenges, then step back and let you work on them until you’re ready for the next thing. In some cases, we work with you multiple times a week. In others, we might work with you a few times a month. The whole idea is to help you just enough.

Our approach does not include telling people what to do, dictating your agile processes, or ensuring that your people and teams deliver. We don’t “install agile.” If you want agile to help you deliver on your business goals over time, you don’t want external consultants to own the process. We help your people own it by developing their skills and supporting them as they improve the practices that will work in their context. Our goal is not to “make everyone agile.” Our goal is to help your people use agile ideas to deliver more value to your customers.

Management and Leadership Consulting & Coaching

We offer management and leadership consulting & coaching focused on developing leaders who can help others succeed. We believe that not all leaders need to be managers – but all managers need to be leaders.

Leaders are often promoted because of past successes. As you take on new responsibilities, the things that helped you succeed in past situations may hold you back in the new one. To meet these new challenges, you need to develop your potential and add to your leadership toolkit.

Management and leadership consulting & coaching focuses on leaders in new roles, handling new challenges, taking on new responsibilities, and, importantly, continuing to level up your skills and approaches. It helps you face circumstances where your ability to know the right answer is no longer what will determine success. You may have been successful as a leader, but now you have to help other leaders be successful. We work one-on-one with individual leaders and with entire leadership teams. In each case, we start by understanding your situation, assessing where you are, helping you create an actionable plan to focus on your development, and working with you to help you move forward. Executive Coaching

We offer executive coaching for senior leaders. Executives face many of the same challenges as everyone else in the organization and feel the same typical pressures – overall organization performance, a need to understand everything, a need to control situations, or a need to shift to new sets of skills to actually enable people and teams. But these pressures often compound at the executive level. The higher you go in an organization, the fewer teachers and mentors you have to support the growth and learning needed to respond effectively to these pressures. Executive coaching fills this gap.

Executive coaching can be one-on-one with individual executives or with executive teams. In either case, we start by understanding your goals, assessing where you are starting, helping you create an actionable plan to focus on your goals, and working with you to help you meet those goals. We often pair our executive coaching with a Leadership Circle Profile to help executives accelerate their progress. All of our coaches are certified via the ICF (international Coach Federation), among other credentials.

Our Approach

None of our services involve telling you to follow a single theory or fixed model. Instead, we use theories and models as a foundation while bringing practical experience, practices, and ideas to help you and your teams tackle real challenges and opportunities. We use many concepts that are considered ‘agile’ in our work, and we like to point to their sources – because many of them existed before and beyond agile. We focus on helping your people develop the skills and capabilities to succeed. Our goal is to be with you just enough so your people can move forward.

Professional coaching is a core part of our coaching and training. We teach these concepts throughout our courses, specifically in our leadership development programs. By “professional coaching,” we mean coaching that aligns with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) standards. All our coaches are ICF Certified. We bring professional coaching to all of our consulting engagements. Professional coaching is about helping people unlock ideas and direction without depending on the consultant’s content knowledge. For us, this is the end goal – that your people bring all the ideas, creativity, innovation, knowledge, and talent you hired them for, to the table.

Our consulting & coaching services complement our training approach. Our training creates opportunities to apply practical knowledge to your actual work, by building on your knowledge and experience. The ‘your knowledge’ part of this is critical. Wasted talent is the biggest issue we see in organizations.
