Agile Forecasting & 4 Estimation Factors that Can Destroy Estimates!
Thursday, July 7, 2022 @ 12:00 pm — 1:00pm (MDT)
Okay, the title might be a bit of click-bait! This session is focused on helping you answer the question of “How can we forecast in agile?” Then answer is in fact not that complicated, however it is not always what people want to hear. You might, but maybe not everyone you work wth. We will look at forecasting and how it relates to budgeting for people. We will also discuss a few of the core elements that, without them, make forecasting (in any situation) quite challenging. Finally, we will round out the session with a review of estimation factors. These are factors that impact your ability to estimate, how you estimate, and perhaps most importantly, if anyone can’t count on your estimates. And spoliler alert – most of these apply to any type of estimation (absolute or relative).
(Please Note: this session builds on the prior Agile Estimating Session 1. If you do not understand the basics of relative estimating, you may be a bit lost (we will not have time to cover it in any depth in this session). You are welcome to join, just realize some points might be a bit confusing.
Please note: All of our Learning Labs are interactive sessions using Zoom and Miro. They are not just us talking to a slideshow. We invite all participants to collaborate on a virtual whiteboard (Miro) and engage in conversations with us and each other. While you are welcome to join in audio-only mode, it will be a challenge to participate, and you may not get much out of the session. Because these sessions are interactive, we do not record them. If you are not familiar with Miro, you can learn more at academy.miro.com.
