Busting Assumptions – A Practical Approach to Getting Out of Your Own Way

Wednesday, August 17, 2022 @ 1:00 pm — 2:00pm (MDT)

We make assumptions. It keeps us safe. Or at least it has. Any more these assumptions often hold us back. While it is easy to say, “stop assuming”, I have yet to see that work for anyone. Often our assumptions are nonconscious. This concept sprouted from a coaching session I did many years back where we had two camps of people who did not agree but were not seeing all the perspectives.

Bring 1 or more problems you have with others in your organization (people, teams, etc.) and we will let you try to bust any assumptions and come up with next steps. We include a version of this in our Agile Facilitation/A-CSM class, however this is a bit different.  This new version includes a more formal step-by-step process to assess any problem you have.  These steps should make it easier to get started with, use, and explain to others.

Organizers: Jake Calabrese

Please note: All of our Learning Labs are interactive sessions using Zoom and Miro. They are not just us talking to a slideshow. We invite all participants to collaborate on a virtual whiteboard (Miro) and engage in conversations with us and each other. While you are welcome to join in audio-only mode, it will be a challenge to participate, and you may not get much out of the session. Because these sessions are interactive, we do not record them. If you are not familiar with Miro, you can learn more at academy.miro.com.
