Can’t Slice User Stories? Relax, It’s Easy and Fun!

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 @ 11:00 am — 12:00pm (MST)

Story Slicing - Bread

Slicing user stories does not have to be painful. It can be a fun activity if you let it. Slicing stories can also be easy. Often not at first but using this simple slicing approach and pattern makes it easier over time. There are no stories that can’t be sliced, so bring a story or two to this session. You can bring some that are not being completed in a sprint or ones that no one even wants to start given their “size”. You will have an opportunity to slice those stories! We will also cover some other confusing points about stories such as what “valuable” means and how stories are often a part of a small bundle of value. Note that if you don’t have stories or use some other type of product backlog items, simply bring any piece of work that would add value to your organization but is too large to complete in a 2-week sprint.

Organizers: Jake Calabrese

Please note: All of our Learning Labs are interactive sessions using Zoom and Miro. They are not just us talking to a slideshow. We invite all participants to collaborate on a virtual whiteboard (Miro) and engage in conversations with us and each other. While you are welcome to join in audio-only mode, it will be a challenge to participate, and you may not get much out of the session. Because these sessions are interactive, we do not record them. If you are not familiar with Miro, you can learn more at academy.miro.com.
