The Quest for Value – Can Epics, MMFs, MRFs, and MVPs Help?

Tuesday, January 31, 2023 @ 1:00 pm — 2:00pm (MST)

Have you been on a quest to find a larger container of value beyond a user story? There can be value in grouping small slices of work (often user stories) into other “containers”. People do this to track work, communicate progress, see a big picture, focus on the simplest possible value, categories work, etc.  The common terms we use (and hear) are epic, feature, minimum marketable feature (MMF), minimum releasable feature (MRF), minimum viable product (MVP), and maybe BFT.  These may add value or not – often it depends how they are being used.  We will review each of these terms, define them, and talk about common issues. We will also share what we prefer and how that approach connects to stories and story slicing!

Organizers: Jake Calabrese

Please note: All of our Learning Labs are interactive sessions using Zoom and Miro. They are not just us talking to a slideshow. We invite all participants to collaborate on a virtual whiteboard (Miro) and engage in conversations with us and each other. While you are welcome to join in audio-only mode, it will be a challenge to participate, and you may not get much out of the session. Because these sessions are interactive, we do not record them. If you are not familiar with Miro, you can learn more at academy.miro.com.
