Last October, I helped the Agile Alliance Board of Directors with their quarterly meeting. They asked me to write up one of the ways we worked with some difficulties that came up.
Tensions are a natural part of working in a group. They’re uncomfortable, so we often want to smooth them over, move past them, or pretend they don’t exist. Exploring them is an option we often overlook. Differences are a potential source of conflict, but they are also how we get greater insight. The next time you experience tensions in a group, consider, “How can we take advantage of this difficulty?”
